History of the Band

History

The Forest Hills Adult Community Band (FHACB) was established during the summer of 2007.

This band was originally formed as the Kentwood Community Band (KCB) in 1989. The first rehearsal consisted of a dozen enthusiastic individuals who wanted to make music. Many of the members had not played their instrument since college or even high school, but found encouragement and friendship in the band.

Since its formation, the band has grown and changed, but the goals remain the same: to be a place for good music and good fellowship. In 2001, the band formalized its long time goal in its Mission: To provide opportunity for musical enrichment through the rehearsal and performance of instrumental music within the framework of a full concert setting.

Beginning in 2009, the band held an annual festival of adult community bands called Bands on the Grand through the 2015 festival. A history of that festival can be found at Bands on the Grand.
